The 2006 F430 is an important vehicle to Ferrari for the convertible market segment. The Spider is a member of a series of two trim levels for the F430 which include Base and Spider. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Ferrari. There is strong competition from vehicles from Honda.

There are several reasons why the Ferrari F430 Spider sold well in 2006. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Ferrari, specifically a F430.
