When you think of the “Chevrolet Corvette” what will usually come to mind for Chevrolet enthusiasts is quality, stability and lots of history. The Corvette has been one of the premier vehicles of the Chevrolet line for over ten years. It is an important car and the 2003 model is no exception. The Chevrolet Corvette falls into the convertible for the family category.

Standard equipment in the Corvette for 2002 and 2003 includes the 5.7 liter engine by General Motors, weighing in at 8 cylinders and sixteen valves. A 4-speed Automatic Transmission puts the power of the Chevrolet engine to the pavement. The has proven to be a popular configuration for the Corvette.

The fuel system for the 2003 Corvette is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 18.00 gallons.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Corvette comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses leaf front springs and leaf in the rear.

The dimensions of the Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition are 73.60 inches wide by 179.70 inches long. It sits 47.70 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 104.50 allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $51,435 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $45,006. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.

The Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition received a miles-per-gallon rating of nineteen in-city driving and twenty eight when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

The vehicle is available in Black, Electron Blue Metallic, Millennium Yellow, Quicksilver Metallic, and Torch Red.

The standard warranty period for the Corvette is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the convertible market.

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet Corvette 50th Anniversary Edition sold well in 2003. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a Corvette.
