First Impressions of the Acura NSX for 1995

March 15th, 2009

One of the staples of the Coupe segment is the Acura NSX. In the previous model year debuted a brand new version of the NSX with two versions: T and Base. Sales for the NSX, especially the NSX Base, were brisk during 1995 and 1996. The improved vehicle quality and the modern styling were responsible for the boost in sales.

The restyled NSX Base is equipped with a Honda 3.0-liter 6-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 24 valves. The VTEC engine is paired with a Honda 5-speed transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Acura.

The fuel system for the 1995 NSX is a PGM-FI design, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is regulated by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The storage capacity of the fuel tank is 18.50 gallons.

The NSX uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

99.60 of wheelbase allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers. It sits a comfortable 46.10 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The dimensions of the NSX Base are 174.20 inches long by 71.30 inches wide.

The OEM suggested retail price (MSRP) was $81,000 when new. The dealer cost on the car was an industry-average price. This price was in line with the industry standard price for a 2-door Coupe.

The NSX Base received an fuel efficiency rating of 18 MPG driving in the city and 23 – 24 when it came to distance driving. The gas-powered NSX is a non-green car.

In 1994 and 1995 the NSX Base was availble in the exterior colors of several colors.

The standard warranty period for the NSX is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36* months or 50,000* miles respectively. This is standard in the coupe market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

Considering all factors the 1995 Acura NSX Base was a rowsing. Acura responded to critisims about the 1994 NSX and made drastic changes. The result is better than the sum of its parts. Look for more from Acura along these lines in the future.
