The restyled XLR V is equipped with a 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The Northstar engine is mated to a General Motors six-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2005 version.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The XLR comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses leaf front springs and leaf in the rear.

There are several reasons why the Cadillac XLR V sold well in 2006. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Cadillac, specifically a XLR.

    There’s no doubt that Cadillac is up to it’s old tricks with the XLR? I’m hoping next year’s example is improved.
