The 1997 NSX is an important vehicle to Acura for the coupe market segment. The Base is a member of a series of two trim levels for the NSX which include T and Base. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Acura. There is strong competition from vehicles from Lexus.
