March 2nd, 2009

In 1995 BMW released the 840Ci Base to the car-buying market. The 840Ci came in one configurations: Base. The Base configuration is powered by the 4.0-liter eight-cylinder engine, which makes 29 – 32 highway miles and 21 – 22 city. The 840Ci competes in the Coupe market segment, in direct competition with Hyundai.

The 840Ci Base is equipped with a BMW 4.0 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The engine is mated to a ZF 5-speed Transmission. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Coupe arena.

For the 1995 840Ci, the fuel delivery system is a electronic Bosch Motronic SFI, using gasoline for fuel. A fuel-injected MFI configuration. The gas tank holds 17.20 gallons.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The 840Ci has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $25,600 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Coupe.

The 1995 840Ci gets 29 – 32 miles/gallon on the highway and only 21 – 22 in the city. This is exceptional for a coupe car.

The vehicle is available in several colors.

The standard warranty period for the 840Ci is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 36* months or 50,000* miles respectively. This is standard in the coupe market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.

In summation the 1995 BMW 840Ci Base was a pivotal vehicle. BMW responded to critisims about the 1994 840Ci and made sweeping changes. The result is a great car and even better coupe. Let’s hope the BMW 840Ci for 1995 is a sign of the future.
