The First Impressions of the Chevrolet Corvette for 1995

One of the staples of the Hatchback segment is the Chevrolet Corvette. In the previous model year released a brand new version of the Corvette with three versions: Base, Indianapolis 500 Pace Car, and ZR-1. Sales for the Corvette, especially the Corvette Base, were brisk during 1995 and 1996. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the sales boost.

Chevrolet Corvette Engine Specs

The restyled Corvette Base is equipped with a General Motors 5.7-liter 8-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 16 valves. The Chevrolet engine is paired with a General Motors 4-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

The Corvette uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses leaf and leaf springs front and rear respectively.

The fuel system for the 1995 Corvette is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 20.00 gallons.

Cost is an important factor when buy a car. The Chevrolet Corvette lists at $36,785 when new. The dealer cost on the car was an industry-high price. This price was high compared to the industry standard price for a 2-door hatchback.

Fuel Efficiency

The 1995 Corvette gets 25 – 27 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 in the city. This is exceptional for a hatchback car.

In 1994 and 1995 the Corvette Base was availble in the exterior colors of several colors. Additional options were made available by the factory.

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet Corvette Base sold well in 1995. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a Corvette.
