Last Year’s Convertible: The 2007 Cadillac XLR V
There’s been a lot of talk about the Cadillac XLR for 2007. As a leading car in the convertible market the XLR (and in this case specically the V version) has maintained a high standard. The 2-door XLR is especially appealing to broad audience, making it a perfect car to help Cadillac as a brand in general.
Under the Hood
The XLR V is equipped with a General Motors 4.4 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 32 valves. The Northstar engine is mated to a General Motors 6-speed Transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Cadillac.
The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The XLR uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. Load balancing is provided by leaf front springs and leaf in the rear.

The XLR is 191.50 inches long, 70.60 inches wide, and 57.30 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 113.40 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.
The retail price (MSRP) was $51,425 when new. The dealer cost on the car was $47,054. This price was average compared to the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.
Fuel Efficiency
The fuel system for the 2007 XLR is a SFI design, using gasoline fuel. The fuel flow is controlled by a electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The fuel capacity of the fuel tank is 17.00 gallons.
The XLR V received an fuel efficiency rating of 15 MPG driving in the city and 24 when it came to highway driving. The gas-powered XLR is a non-hybrid car.
What We Think of the Cadillac XLR
In summation the 2007 Cadillac XLR V was a great success. Cadillac responded to critisims about the 2006 XLR and made sweeping changes. The result is a great car and even better convertible. Let’s hope the Cadillac XLR for 2007 is a sign of the future.
