The 2004 Crossfire is an important vehicle to Chrysler for the coupe market segment. The Base is a member of a series of one trim levels for the Crossfire which include Base. The two-door car with its rear-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Chrysler. There is strong competition from vehicles from Hyundai.

Chrysler Crossfire Engine Specs

The restyled Crossfire Base is equipped with a 3.2-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 18 valves. The engine is mated to a Chrysler five-speed transmission. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 2003 version.

For the 2004 Crossfire, the fuel configuration is a electronic SFI, using gasoline for fuel. A fuel-injected MFI configuration. The gas tank holds 15.90 gallons.

The Crossfire uses power-assisted brakes, with 2-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

94.50 of wheelbase allows for extra leg room for the rear passengers. It sits 51.40 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The dimensions of the Crossfire Base are 159.80 inches long by 69.50 inches wide.

The listed retail price in 2004 (MSRP) was $33,620, with a dealer invoice cost of $31,158. This price is on target the industry average price for a two-door Coupe.

The standard warranty period for the Crossfire is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the coupe market.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2004 Crossfire gets 25 – 28 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 – 21 in the city. This is subpar for a coupe car.

We Think…

The 2003 model began the promise of the Chrysler Crossfire. The 2004 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chrysler hopes that the Crossfire Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
