The Cadillac Allante Base for 1991: Improving on 1990

February 16th, 2009

As time has gone by several things can be said about the Cadillac Allante series: including the strong reaction most buyers have towards their car. The 8-cylinder engine is at the core of the strong emotions, it is reliable for its class and delivers a huge amount of torque.

Cadillac Allante Engine Specs

The Allante Base is equipped with a General Motors 4.5 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Cadillac engine is mated to a Hydra-Matic 4-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Cadillac.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Allante has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and leaf in the rear.

Vehicle Statistics

The dimensions of the Allante Base are 73.50 inches wide by 178.70 inches long. It sits a comfortable 51.20 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The wheelbase of 99.40 allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers.

The listed retail price in 1991 (MSRP) was $61,510, with an invoice cost of an industry-average price. This price is above average of the industry average price for a two-door Convertible.

Fuel Efficiency

For the 1991 Allante, the fuel delivery system is a electronic SFI, using gasoline for fuel. A fuel-injected MFI configuration. The gas tank holds 22.00 gallons.

The Allante Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of fifteen in-city driving and twenty two when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was exceptional.

We Think…

Considering all factors the 1991 Cadillac Allante Base was a very important. Cadillac responded to critisims about the 1990 Allante and made dramatic changes. The result is better than the sum of its parts. I’m sure Cadillac has more in store in the future.
