Chrysler Crossfire

One of the staples of the Convertible segment is the Chrysler Crossfire. In the previous model year released a brand new version of the Crossfire with three versions: SRT-6, Base, and Limited. Sales for the Crossfire, especially the Crossfire Base, were brisk during 2006 and 2007. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the sales boost.

Chrysler Crossfire Engine Specs

The restyled Crossfire Base is equipped with a Chrysler 3.2-liter 6-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 18 valves. The engine is paired with a Chrysler 5-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chrysler.

For the 2006 Crossfire, the fuel delivery system is a electronic SFI, using gasoline for fuel. A fuel-injected MFI configuration. The gas tank holds 15.90 gallons.

The Crossfire uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering gear-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

Vehicle Statistics

94.50 of wheelbase allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers. It sits a comfortable 51.80 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The dimensions of the Crossfire Base are 159.80 inches long by 69.50 inches wide.

The Chrysler Crossfire lists at $34,185 when new. The dealer cost on the car was $31,667.

The standard warranty period for the Crossfire is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the convertible market.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2006 Crossfire gets 25 – 28 miles/gallon on the highway and only 17 – 21 in the city. This is exceptional for a convertible car.

Conclusion

The 2005 model began the promise of the Chrysler Crossfire. The 2006 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chrysler hopes that the Crossfire Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
