Last Year’s Coupe: The 2008 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

Chevrolet has been blessed with many award-winning designs, including the Chevrolet Corvette of 2008. There are three trim levels to the Corvette, including 427 Limited Edition Z06 and Base. The Z06 version is one of the more popular options. Like in 2007 the popular 7.0 liter has made this a popular choice for coupe buyers around the world.
Performance
The restyled Corvette Z06 is equipped with a General Motors 7.0-liter 8-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 16 valves. The engine is paired with a Tremec 6-speed transmission. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.
Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Corvette has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses leaf front springs and leaf in the rear.
The fuel system for the 2008 Corvette is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 18.00 gallons.
Corvette Z06 Statistics
105.70 of wheelbase allows for limited leg room for the backseat passengers. It sits a comfortable 49.00 inches off the ground. It seats a standard two passengers, with 2 doors. The dimensions of the Corvette Z06 are 175.60 inches long by 75.90 inches wide.
The standard warranty period for the Corvette is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the coupe market.
The listed retail price in 2008 (MSRP) was $71,275, with an invoice cost of $63,791. This price is slightly higher than the industry average price for a two-door Coupe.
Fuel Efficiency
The Corvette Z06 received a miles-per-gallon rating of seventeen in-city driving and twenty three when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was subpar.
In 2007 and 2008 the Corvette Z06 was availble in the exterior colors of Atomic Orange Metallic, Black, Jetstream Blue Metallic, Machine Silver Metallic, Velocity Yellow Tintcoat, and Victory Red. Additional options were made available by the factory.
In Summary
The 2007 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Corvette. The 2008 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Corvette Z06 will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
